Mini Food Processor for Making Baby Food

Baby food preparation is also among the many things that a food processor helps with. For households with a baby, if you own a mini food processor or a larger one which comes with an additional mini bowl, you are in luck. Your child will be able to eat almost everything that is cooked for the remaining family members as long as it has been processed in the food processor.

Although packed boxes of baby food are also present in the stores but they are not as tasty or as healthy as the meals you will prepare at home. If you own a food processor, your task is much easier than your expectations since anything you put in it can be pureed to the consistency you want to feed your baby with. The great thing about food processors is that it does not require the addition of water so you can even grind oats or rice into a fine powder to make oats or rice cereal instead of buying them from the store.

As with any other task, you need to follow a couple of steps in their correct order to get things done in the best manner possible:

  • You will first need to choose the right ingredients that provide the most nutrients to your child. Look for fresh and organic vegetables and fruits. Either use them within 2 days of their purchase or freeze them and use frozen ingredients for making baby food whenever you want to.
  • Before putting the ingredient into the food processor, you will first need to remove the peels, pits or seeds from them as required. Most of the ingredients will also need to be cooked before being processed. Ingredients such as apples, potatoes and meat will need to be cooked through so that they are soft and easily digestible by the baby.
  • You are finally ready to place the ingredient/s into the food processor! Since babies usually eat very little at a time, it will be hard to process such little amounts of food. Most parents prefer making at least 1 to 2 cups of meal and then saving it for later use. If you think your baby will be able to use it up within 2 days, you can store it in the fridge. If you want to want to use it for longer than that, it’s better to freeze the food.
  • The addition of liquid while processing the food is entirely up to you and what your baby is capable of eating. For younger babies who have just started weaning, thinner consistencies will be preferable, while you can keep it thicker for older babies.
  • Apart from the liquid, the texture of the food depends on your baby’s chewing capabilities. You may want to keep the meal chunkier for toddlers who have grown a few teeth and are learning to chew. The texture of the processed food will be controlled by how long you process it in the food processor. If you want a smooth puree, you will have to process longer until you find that the texture is smooth enough. For a chunkier puree, process the food for only a few seconds and then check to see if you have achieved the desired texture.

After the meal is processed as required, you can serve it to your kid. You will find that there is much more satisfaction in serving your baby with homemade meals rather than packaged ones since you know that they are healthier, more hygienic and tastier for your baby.
